The Prism The Prism Pyro is debuting with a stock triple-foil stamp, that in combination with a Proton core and Prism rim produces a stunning dual-toned translucent disc. The Prism Proton Pyro was designed as Axiom’s first overstable Midrange with more glide than the MVP Deflector and a commanding stable finish. The Pyro has enough stability for consistent flights in strong winds and powerful throws without losing its line and turning off target.

    Superb mid-range

Stable in all conditions, feels incredible, the speckled overmold is very pretty.

Lovely OS midrange, like a longer Harp or Jarn etc. Very happy!

Raven Newsom calls it "probably the best disc he's ever had ... "

I love my Harp, Jokeri, Anchor and Verdict. And even though I have no lack of OS midranges, I am nevertheless flirting with the Tactic, Deflector, Justice and RocX3. In some ways, this is just symptomatic of plastic addiction as I have already discovered the Pyro 2 years ago. I bought one second-hand because of the name applying no research to it. If I had checked, I would have discovered its flight numbers are complete BS. This is a Bovril-esque 5/3/0.5/3.5 disc pretending to be a Roc3. Even after many hundreds of throws it has barely beaten into what I consider a 0-turn. The only midrange I have ever thrown with more beef is the Deflector (which is kind of a joke disc) and perhaps the Lucid-X Verdict. But fear not, it is a very usable sort of meathook: starting with how beautifully it fits in your hand with the kind of comfy smoothness that Lat 64's Royal range crows about, and progressing to its easy-to-control slimline rim and ruler-flat top plate, it is much more than merely a utility disc for desperate occasions.

I suggest throwing it with as much snap as you can manage to get it to hit a laser line for anything more than 60m up to 110m. Yes, it can go just as far as my Kaxe, because it will soak up all the power you can lay into it, no problem. When it hooks up, it is a very pushing (but severe) low-speed fade, and it will almost always skip on ground contact because of the deeply offset nose/rim angle. The sharp fade is very neat on the short approach, especially if you like to flick a steep forehand 10m short that will skip majestically all the way to the basket and perhaps up into it!

Naturally, this is so wind-resistant that it almost dismisses headwinds from your shot calculus. The only time I have ever flipped it up from a 7 o'clock hyzer is on a max rip into a 35mph Storm Franklin headwind, watching it rise slowly and reluctantly to the level and fade out at 60m. I love it for controlled spike hyzers, headwind drives and forehand approaches that need a decent skip. It is also worth its weight in gold on those days where the weather is so f*cked that I just need to simplify my game with something fully reliable. My only gripe is that Axiom has brain farted on the stamp design. With a name like Pyro, you'd imagine all kinds of fiery hell as possible design directions, and instead, we get a Victorian science experiment drawn in crayons by a child?
